Using Reiki to Benefit Your Pet
My first encounter with the benefits of Reiki was as a patient. I went for a series of sessions to help me through the transition of my youngest child leaving home to attend college. Reiki seemed to help a great deal with my anxiety and sadness over this big life change. It was such a cool experience that several years later I traveled to Colorado for training to become a Reiki practitioner. Sure I could have found a class closer to home, but I love Colorado!
Eventually, I became a Master Reiki Practitioner. I rarely treat people, but have found Reiki to be helpful for my animals, particularly the ones with anxiety. If you are a pet lover like I am you want the best life possible for your pet. Reiki energy healing can help maintain your pet’s health and is a great tool in the healing process if your pet becomes sick or injured.
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a healing method utilizing universal life energy that originated in Japan. When working with animals it’s a natural healing tool because energy healing is gentle, safe, and doesn’t require physical contact. Animals respond intuitively when this support is offered for healing of emotional, behavioral, and physical illnesses and injuries. Reiki compliments an animal’s natural, intuitive ability to seek comfort and heal.
How Can Reiki Help Your Pet?
Maintaining an animal’s balanced inner state of health and vitality through relaxation and a sense of peace is one way Reiki can help. If your pet has anxiety, for example, energy healing helps them relax. Animals in a more zen state are less likely to become ill or suffer from an injury and are able to heal more quickly.
If your pet becomes ill or injured, Reiki can help with the healing process. Always take your pet to your veterinarian first if they are sick or injured. If an animal needs help healing from a past trauma, such as neglect and/or abuse, the healing energy provided during a Reiki session can be beneficial for them. Reiki is non-threatening and is a great complement to other forms of medicine.
During the final stage of life, animals can be supported with Reiki’s compassionate, yet powerful, ability to provide relief from pain and anxiety. Energy healing offers a peaceful transition to the passage over the rainbow bridge.
Having a pet who is about to pass on is such a difficult time for pet owners. This has been a tough summer for my family–we are healing from the loss of two of our beloved cats, Mushuu and Artemis. We adopted them within months of each other 17 years ago. I’ve been using Reiki to help us all in the process of acceptance, grieving, and healing.
